
On June 26, 2025, Pallapatti Higher Secondary School hosted a significant event to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The program began with the taking of an anti-drug pledge during the morning assembly, led by the school’s Assistant Headmaster, Mr. Tajudeen.
Over 1,400 students and teachers participated in the pledge-taking ceremony, demonstrating a strong commitment to combating drug abuse. The event was also attended by key figures such as the National Student Brigade coordinator Mr. A. Muhammad Ismail, the Rural Welfare Program officer Mr. K. Muhammad Harris, and the Anti-Drug Council leader Mr. K.K. Muhammad Tahir Usain.
District Food Safety officers Mr. Ramamoorthy, Mr. Lawrence, and Mr. Palanichamy graced the occasion, adding their support to the awareness efforts.
Following the pledge, an extensive anti-drug rally was organized, with more than 250 participants including members of the National Student Brigade, Rural Welfare Program students, and other anti-drug activists. The rally started from Pallapatti Higher Secondary School and proceeded through Thindukkal Road, Puliyamar Street, and Habib Nagar, reaching Sannagar Corner before returning to the school.
During the rally, participants carried slogans and awareness messages to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse, helping to spread critical information throughout the community.
Local dignitaries present included Pallapatti Municipality Commissioner Mrs. Arthi, Health Inspector Mr. Ismail, and other municipal staff. Officials from the upgraded Government Primary Health Centre in Malaikovilur, including Medical Officer Mrs. Jaysri, Area Health Supervisor Mr. S. Daniel, and Health Inspectors Mr. K. Lenin and Mr. S. Damodaran also took part.
The Aravakurichi Police team, led by Police Inspector K. Easwaran and Assistant Police Inspector N. Rajaseervai, contributed to the rally’s smooth conduct and added security presence.
The event concluded on a positive note with Police Inspector K. Easwaran distributing fresh fruit juices to the students, celebrating their active involvement and commitment to a drug-free future.
